Dragon Fruit To Be
Ever since moving to Asia I have
been intrigued with dragon fruit. The cactus sits propped up, a dusty dull
green for many months before the buds appear. The buds gradually grow into
something that resembles the plant from Little Shop of Horrors. I always keep
an eye on the local crop and eagerly wait for them to bloom. The flowers open
for one glorious day, often dozens on one plant. Then they droop and are
replaced with the shaggy red fruit that we get at the market. Altogether a
quirky little plant!
